Dr Pepper Snapple Group Procurement Manager in Plano, Texas

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will support the Director of Packaging Procurement in the development and ownership of strategic sourcing, value optimization and supplier relationship programs for the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. The goal of the job is to optimize value in the supplier/business relationship. The key function of the job is to identify and understand the business's requirements and lead a strategic sourcing process of selecting the vendors that can best meet all technical, quality, regulatory and supply chain requirements to deliver the greatest return on investment.

Strategic Sourcing Management

  • Develop Sourcing Strategy (Category Business Plan) in conjunction with key business partners to address and meet business needs.

  • In conjunction with the business key stakeholders, initiate, direct and conduct all activities relating to negotiating, evaluating, selecting, and implementing preferred supplier contracts. Negotiate legal contracts with suppliers. Agree with the partners in the business what the roles and responsibilities for vendor management will be.

  • Provide Procurement expertise and assistance to the Purchasing Unit. Be an expert in administering 8-step strategic sourcing process.

  • Define best sourcing procurement process e.g. Traditional RFQ/RFP/RFI, on line Auction, Collaborative sourcing, etc.

  • Negotiate and develop up long-term relationships with strategic suppliers

  • Establish & maintain cost models for all spends within scope

  • Supplier performance management

  • Negotiations skills & execution management

  • Acquire and be able to communicate market knowledge for the industries in which the vendors participate.


  • Be accountable for compliance on Corporate Environmental Sustainability and Regulatory efforts representing sourcing areas.

  • Supplier Code of Conduct: Ensure supply base has signed and performing to standards set in the Dr Pepper Code of Conduct.

  • Food Drug & Administration: Ensure suppliers comply with all required federal, national, regional, and local food safety regulations and especially in reference to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

  • Risk Management: Ensure supplier risk is proactively understood and continuity business plans in place for any potential unpreventable interruption in supply

Project Management/Value Optimization (Change Management)

  • Be accountable for achieving financial and value optimization targets established by Director.

  • Create and update project progress plans to reflect necessary activities, savings, cost and timing.

  • Ensure projects are upheld to business standards prior to implementation. Areas addressed include, but not limited to, quality, technical, regulatory and legal compliance, finance reporting, marketing, sales and consumer acceptance, manufacturing and supply chain deployment.

Category Management

  • Manage supply and overall supplier relationships for multiple categories as defined by Director

  • Develop 3 year category plans for strategic categories

  • Monthly (Price Purchases Variance) root cause analysis and presentation to leadership

  • Develop and update financial PPV forecast models

  • Prepare the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the categories under his/her responsibility

Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI)

  • Commitment to the Rapid Continuous Improvement way of managing the categories.

  • Use the RCI tools to develop and support category recommendations.

Analytics and Communication

  • Be an expert with analytical tools (e.g. Excel) in order to draw conclusions and make recommendations from large data sets.

  • Be proficient at oral / written communication in order to effectively explain complex ideas and approaches to a wide audience (MS Word, MS Project and MS PowerPoint).


  • Be able to interact with all levels of the organization, ranging from senior executives through middle management.

  • A collaborative management style with the ability to build partnerships both internally and externally

  • Be able to coordinate across multiple functions, to include: Procurement, finance, marketing, legal, Packaging Engineering, and sales, business unit leadership positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain and/or Engineering from an accredited institution

  • 5 years of Supply Chain experience with a CPG company

  • 3 years of Direct Materials Procurement experience
