The school of Architecture seeks candidates who are committed to teaching courses in the Construction Science Program. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate level students to support only the Research mission of the university, the broader education development and learning of its students; conducting federally, privately funded or sponsored research grant and fellowship projects and outcomes; publishing authored, coauthored, edited, or coedited books, book chapters, articles, editions, translations, or research reports; engaging in editorial publications (such as journal editor, guest editor, book series, editor, book reviews editor, bibliographies, etc.); delivering invited and contributed lectures and conference papers, panels, and posters; participating in grant panels and evaluative review boards; contributing as editorial advisory board member for journals and book series; serving as an officer or member of an executive committee for professional societies; chairing sessions at professional conferences and associations; consulting on scientific, scholarly, or artistic projects; designing and developing websites and online presence for professional information.
Candidates must have a terminal degree in Architecture (M.ARCH.), Construction, and/or Engineering, or a comparable degree in a related field of study.
Five (5) years teaching experience at the college level in the undergraduate levels of instruction in architecture, construction science, engineering or industrial design. Experience in teaching should include instruction in courses and seminars involving architecture, construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and/or life safety systems, building technology and sustainable design found in architectural theory/practice or the construction industry.
Candidates must have a terminal degree in Architecture (M.ARCH.), Construction Science, Construction Management or Engineering, or a comparable degree in a related field of study. A preferred education would include Ph.D. in architecture, construction science, construction management, or engineering.
Preferred Experience Requirements:
Ten (10) years teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in architecture, construction science, engineering or industrial design is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of architectural or engineering practice, or if in the construction industry that includes a broad portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to instruct across various industry segments (commercial, residential, industrial, highway/heavy, retail, hotel, etc.).
Preferred Licenses/Certifications :
AIA, PE, or CCM
The ideal candidate should demonstrate knowledge of various representative software and media commonly used in the fields of engineering. Candidate should demonstrate knowledge of structural systems and/or environmental systems related to the use and theoretical interests of the architectural profession. Candidate should demonstrate a body of professional work that has been recognized.
The appointment date for this position will be for September 1, 2017 or after.
