Other important duties include the backup, archival, and recovery of files, following a scheduled patch cycle, auditing the security of the infrastructure, and tracking software license usage. While other departments manage the network, Active Directory, and virtualization infrastructure, a firm understanding of the technologies and protocols surrounding those functions will be important for troubleshooting as well as building a solid relationship with those groups.
