Scope of Job
The Department of Psychological Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a Clinic Director for the department’s training clinic. This is a tenured position (open rank) to begin in fall 2017. Responsibilities include development and administration of clinic operations, providing clinical training and supervision to graduate students, organizing community practicum placements, and facilitating research through the department’s training clinic. The clinic director is also expected to be an active collaborator in clinical research and to submit grants to support the clinic’s training goals. Applicants must have a PhD an APA accredited program in clinical psychology or foreign equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in clinical supervision, expertise in evidence-based interventions and assessment, and a record of dissemination of clinical science through publications and conference presentations. This will be a 9-month position with a summer stipend.
UTRGV, a Hispanic serving institution, opened its doors in Fall 2015. UTRGV was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 and brought together the assets and resources of UT Pan American and UT Brownsville. UTRGV is also home to a new School of Medicine that opened in 2016. UTRGV is in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, the southern tip of Texas known as the Rio Grande Valley.
UTRGV has a 5-year NSF ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant to increase the representation of women in the faculty and leadership of STEM fields (which includes psychology) and to promote a positive, family friendly work environment. The Department of Psychological Science is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity (broadly defined) and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and/or service.

Candidates appointed as Associate Professor or Full Professor must meet Departmental tenure requirements.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
