- SNAP Fellowship Information*
The transition from new nurse to professional nurse is challenging. The Specialty Nurse Accelerated Program (SNAP) at /St. David’s HealthCare/ is an elite training program designed to rapidly advance the careers of graduate nurses, as well as those seeking to move into another specialty. St. David’s HealthCare offers a variety of SNAP Fellowship options, to address the different specialized areas of nursing care. The fellowship occurs after the Immersion Residency (orientation). It is a 6 month program with a series of educational and clinical experiences developed to help nurses excel as they transition into a specialty nursing practice. The fellowship incorporates specialty curriculum, classes and clinicals, professional growth, evidence based practices, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
The St. David’s Ambulatory Surgery Centers are offering a unique opportunity to nurses to apply for Operating Room positions via the St. David’s Residency/Specialty Nurse Accelerated Fellowship (SNAP).We are accepting Graduate Nurses and experienced nurses (with no OR experience) for the next training program.
Those GNs hired will be hired as a GN and will be considered a GN until at least 6 months of experience have been completed in the role of Operating Room RN. Lastly, any nurses selected to the program, will_ agree to sign a letter of employment commitment for a minimum of 2 years after completion of the fellowship._ A screening and selection process will be applied to each Fellowship Application followed by call for interview of eligible candidates.
_Eligibility Criteria for Applicants_
Must submit a Professional Resume Must be a Registered Nurse with unencumbered RN license Must submit a 1-2 page type-written essay on Why Should I Be Selected for the Fellowship in the Operating Room at a St. David's Ambulatory Surgery Center

*Maximum of two pages for content
* Include a Cover Page identifying full name, address, contact number and date
*Content *– include the following within your essay: 1. Why should you be selected for the fellowship? 2. Why are you interested in the Operating Room? 3. Why are you interested in the Ambulatory Surgery Center setting instead of a Hospital setting? 4. What do you hope to gain from the fellowship? 5. How do you see yourself contributing to healthcare five years from now?
The Immersion Residency (for GNs) is 13 weeks long and the SNAP fellowship is a 6 month program with a series of educational and clinical experiences developed to help the new PACU nurse excel as they transition into the Recovery Room. The GN nurse will attend residency and SNAP classes and also complete a clinical rotation. When not attending classes or a clinical rotation, the nurse will orient in the operating room at the assigned surgery center with a preceptor. Experienced nurses will not attend the Immersion Residency.

Education: * Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing in the Summer or Fall/Spring 2016 * Education Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree License and Certifications: * Current licensure as an RN in the state of Texas. * Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association * Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or /if a current ACLS is not available will be required to obtain within 6-9 months after completing the SNAP fellowship./ * Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association /or if a current PALS is not available will be required to obtain within 6-9 months after completing the SNAP fellowship./
