Southwest Research Institute ANALYST - ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - EMBEDDED SYSTEMS SECURITY in San Antonio, Texas
The Embedded Systems Security Group requires an Engineer/Analyst/Research Engineer to perform security penetration testing and vulnerability analysis (ethical hacking) of embedded system software and hardware used in applications such as power grid sensors, engine control units, medical devices, and mobile devices. Specific tasks include: software/firmware extraction, reverse engineering, data bus monitoring (snooping) and data injection; communications protocol analysis; system security architecture analysis and design, and risk management analysis; encryption system implementation analysis; client interaction, technical documentation and formal and informal technical presentations.
Requires a BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with at least a 3.4 GPA with 0 – 2 years of experience. Must be trained and experienced in both hardware and software skills; demonstrated, practical understanding of computer architectures; working knowledge of at least one compiled programming language and one interpreted or scripting language (such as assembly, C/C++, python, Java, .NET, C#); evidence of an ability to think critically and creatively; willingness and ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly. Must be able to travel to client sites. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
