Southwest Research Institute DIRECTOR-R&D - SPACE SCIENCE in San Antonio, Texas
The Director will be responsible for leading a portfolio of space avionics technologies across the full product life cycle. Responsibilities for the portfolio include technical innovation, R&D; investment guidance, technical roadmapping, staff development, project technical performance monitoring and control, and program execution. A significant aspect of this position is leading business development and capture activities across NASA, DoD and commercial space opportunities. In addition to the traditional business development activities, the Director is responsible for program execution across the full breadth of the avionics portfolio, including technical, cost and schedule performance, managing client relationships, and advocating avionics to SwRI corporate management.
Requires a MS degree in Electrical, Aerospace or Computer Engineering or related with at least a 3.0 GPA. MBA a plus. Must have at least 15 years experience as an Electrical, Computer or Aerospace Engineer with extensive experience in engineering program management. The applicant must have a proven track record in promoting technology programs and business development, successfully leading capture efforts across commercial and US government clients, as well as effectively managing and executing those programs. A deep understanding of the space industry (both traditional and NewSpace), market place and competitive landscape at the subsystem level is important – with a particular emphasis on advanced signal processing (HW/SW) solutions, avionics, advanced data storage systems. Demonstrated project management, technical team leadership, innovation, and customer relationship development required. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
