Abacus Technology Jr. Hardware Engineer in San Antonio, Texas

Abacus Technology is seeking a Hardware Engineer to provide technical support for hardware components at Lackland AFB. This is a full-time position.

Provide customer support, assistance, training, and orientation on all networking infrastructure systems utilized. Interact with users to repair, replace, program, and maintain all switches, peripherals, hardware configurations, and communication networking equipment ensuring proper system operation. Provide technical assistance to current and potential users to mitigate IT systems operations disruptions. Provide technical hands-on and remote access assistance with installations, hardware configurations, and communication networking. Administer customer accounts and provides initial orientation to new customers. Create and delete user accounts, assign and reset passwords. Manage infrastructure devices and systems using the latest approved software tools. Represent the organization at meetings and participate in discussions, committees, or special IT projects as needed. Analyze areas of concern, identify problems, and resolve conflicts as they arise. Review, update, and generate documents supporting the communication systems. Provide weekly status reports to the program manager and customer regarding completed and ongoing tasks.

3+ years experience in technical support. Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired. Must be A+ certified. Familiar with networking principles, concepts, and methods. Knowledge of network architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods. Able to analyze complexities of existing technology and able to read, assess, and understand network topologies. Able to communicate professionally and in both a technical and non-technical manner with all levels of the organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
