Required Qualifications

High school diploma and graduation from a Medical Assistant program with at least three (3) years of directly-related experience as a Medical Assistant.

Job Description

This position is responsible for verification and/or obtaining all information required to ensure payment for services provided in the clinic setting. This includes but is not limited to: obtaining medication and procedural prior authorizations, completion of disability/FMLA forms, verification of accurate insurance information, and acting as the clinical resource for all benefit related inquiries.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years’ experience in an outpatient clinic setting or physician office as a clinical / administrative support team member with three years of medical assistant experience. At least one year of direct experience in third party reimbursement.

Performs verification and pre-certification authorizations using approved guidelines, screening criteria and protocols and refers authorizations that require additional expertise to applicable physician resource. Completes medication prior approval authorization documents. Timely completion of documentation, follow-up, etc. within specified deadlines. Provide referral / authorization support for ancillary or specialized services to facilitate retrieval and/or generation of necessary documents. Identifies by payor their preference or uses the best practice cover-sheet and submission portfolio to the insurance company to maximize results.

Serves as clinical resource contact for all patient advocate staff. Serves as clinical resource for the team on clinical aspects of coverage policies to avoid backtracking and rework through an effective and efficient process.

Attempts to resolve all patient issues or concerns prior to them becoming patient complaints. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external consumers at all times. Maintains professionalism at all times in appearance, verbal and written communications.
