Southwest Research Institute RESEARCH ANALYST - RESEARCH ENGINEER - EMBEDDED SYSTEMS SECURITY in San Antonio, Texas
Design, develop, and promote embedded systems security for multiple domains and applications such as home automation, automotive, medical devices, industrial control systems and smart grid; lead research efforts in embedded security; seek out funding opportunities in embedded security; interact with clients and make technical presentations; perform all phases of the system lifecycle, including applied research, requirements generation, design, implementation, testing, integration, installation and documentation.
Requires a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar with focus in security for embedded systems, with at least a 3.4 GPA and 0-5 years of related experience. Must be an embedded security researcher with strong software skills and networking/socket programming; must be trained and experienced in both hardware and software skills; must have demonstrated, practical understanding of computer architectures; must have working knowledge of at least one compiled programming language and one interpreted or scripting language (such as assembly, C/C++, python, Java, .NET, C#); must be able to think critically and creatively; must have a willingness and ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly; interest and/or experience in areas such as tamper protection, anomaly detection, cryptography, intrusion detection, wireless communication, secure boot is a plus; interest and/or experience in working with hardware is a plus; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be willing to promote to clients and develop new business areas through research; must be able to work independently and in project team environments; must have good organizational skills and attention to detail; aptitude for continuous learning and leadership potential. Must be able to travel. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
