Job Summary:

Lead and develop new and existing activities in the area of engine control; conduct customer-focused projects in powertrain control and diagnostics in collaboration with engine/vehicle/component development teams; develop and implement control and diagnostic strategies (algorithms, software, hardware, etc.) for engines/vehicles systems; apply advanced control and signal processing techniques for performance enhancement and diagnostics of engine/vehicle systems; design experiments for characterization of engines/components; participate in proposal and promotional efforts to develop new business opportunities as well as grow business with existing clients.

Education/Experience:

Requires a MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with at least a 3.0 GPA. Master’s must have 3+ years of experience and PhD must have 0-3 years of experience in modeling of engines and subsystems, internal combustion engines, and design of multivariable controllers experience. Experience with modeling (physical and mathematical) of engines and subsystems from a control system perspective, control of internal combustion engine (stochiometric, lean-burn/rich-burn) and application of classical and modern methods to design/tuning of multivariable controller is highly desired. Proven proficiency in using Matlab/Simulink is required; must understand real-time control systems of vehicle and engines and have experience with dSPACE, Mototron or other similar platform(s); must be familiar with communication protocols (CAN, TCP/IP, RS-232, CAN, TTP etc.); understanding of on-board diagnostic (OBD) concepts and regulations a plus. Some travel is expected. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
