- POSITION SUMMARY:*
This position will manage the team that handles construction & engineering activities for Retail Marketing. Position includes oversight of execution for capital spending program and maintenance escalation projects.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Construction, Engineering and Maintenance Management*
Oversees compliance with retail construction & engineering activities.
Represents Retail Support and works closely with retail internal customers and stakeholders, including Operations, Merchandising, Retail Technology, Supply Chain and EH&S.
Works closely with Retail Maintenance Team to ensure project close out packages provide adequate data for warranty capture and change process information to ensure site maintenance can occur in the most efficient manner possible.
Makes strategic decisions that need to occur for OEMS (Operations Excellence Management System).
- Supply Chain*
Oversees RFP process with Supply Chain to ensure SLAs are being met and escalates as necessary to maintain ratable project execution.
Oversees project portfolio to ensure value capture is maximized. Provides directional guidance on where additional vendor resources need to be developed or pulled in to foster a more competitive environment.
Endorses Supply Chain RFP awards and ensures appropriate resources where solicited and selected resources have the capacity and professional experience to have a project outcome that would qualify for the label of superior execution.
Works with Supply Chain to review and develop relationships with key vendors so that performance and reliability is maximized at the operational level.
Has oversight of project management team’s relationship with vendors to ensure procurement policies are being enforced and Tesoro’s Core Values are being adhered to.
- Project Management*
Performs high level reviews of capital and expense projects to ensure superior execution and policy compliance is achieved.
Ensures department is in compliance with local/city/state/federal government building codes and permits. Ensures environmental requirements are covered in associated contracts to ensure compliance.
Directs department so that Marketing strategic priorities and shared value projects are being implemented.
- Staff Management*
Manages staff, reviews performance, identifies strengths and weaknesses, coaches subordinates toward understanding of Tesoro construction and engineering methods. Develops staff to enhance career opportunities.
Fosters safety and environmental stewardship values.
- Budgeting and Forecasting*
Prepares budgets for areas of responsibility and participates in budgeting process, including oversight of department as they provide construction estimates to Operations. Manages expenses to budgets.
Reviews and gives directional guidance to department on trend data related to construction and engineering activities.
Sets strategy and goals supporting Retail and corporate strategies as well capital spending execution.
- Engineering standards and data management*
Updates existing standards as required based on regulatory requirements and customer direction.
Evaluates the need for standards and specifications and creates them as applicable for project execution
Creates and oversees centralized data base for historical project and site level data.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*
Minimum of an undergraduate degree is required.
Minimum 10 years of related construction experience is required.
