Tesoro Senior Operational Excellence Analyst - Accounting in San Antonio, Texas

This position supports the Controller organization with administration and implementation of improvements that combine accounting best practices with scalable, sustainable and streamlined end-to-end processes that deliver accurate and timely accounting information.


  • Collaborates with others on projects that achieve reduced manual efforts and increased automation to improve timeliness and accuracy of information across the Company’s accounting organization based on industry and system recognized best practices.

  • Maintains a Controller’s process documentation library as a resource available to the Company.

  • Acts as an accounting and SAP system subject matter expert in order to assist with identifying solutions to complex business processes that meet strategic and financial goals.

  • Prepares and presents training documentation to educate the Company’s accounting community on process changes, best practices and other topics as assigned.

  • Conducts routine discovery sessions to identify and prioritize targets for future improvements that align with strategic goals.


  • Minimum undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably public accounting or accounting systems experience.

  • Experience in process improvement initiatives is preferred.
