Southwest Research Institute TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - SR. TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - CONSTRUCTION in San Antonio, Texas
Prepare designs and studies, prepare budgets, issue bid documents and managing construction and improvement projects from initial inception through final occupancy. Work environment is both in-office and on construction sites and involves extensive time in the field on roofs, around construction equipment and activities, and in outdoor settings; handle commercial and/or industrial construction methods and activities; project tracking and budgeting; bidding and contracting processes; contract administration; blueprint reading and preparation; management of design professionals and consultants.
Requires a BS degree in Construction Technology, Construction Science, Architecture, Construction Management, Architectural Technology or related field with at least a 3.0 GPA. Requires 4 – 8 years of experience in the construction industry with experience supervising/managing construction projects. Must be able to manage multiple subcontractors as well as general contractors on larger projects; must be able to work on facilities-related projects such as new buildings, remodels, modifications, laboratories, roofs, paving and parking, site work, designing for accessibility, planning and budgets; must have experience in commercial and/or industrial construction methods and activities; project tracking and budgeting is required; bidding and contracting processes is required; must have contract administration experience; blueprint reading and preparation is required. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
