Strong negotiating skills as applicable to contracts and the acquisition of goods and services.Extensive knowledge working in a higher educations setting, decision making and critical thinking, strategic thinking, organizational leadership, organizational and political savvy, and managing diversity.Extensive knowledge of TexasHUB(Historically Underutilized Business) program.Experience working with the various modules in SciQuest’s marketplace too, including reporting and benchmarking.Ensure adherence to core values such as integrity, teamwork, respect, receptivity, opportunity, ownership, and communication.Certifications: Certified Texas Purchasing Manager, Certified Texas Contracting Manager, Accredited Purchasing Practitioner, and Certified Purchasing Card Professional.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.10+ years of experience in procurement, ecommerce, contract negotiations, strategic sourcing and leadership.Experience planning, strategic and tactical goal setting and implementation, quality management, process management, resource management, and project management.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Financial Services, the Director of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing oversees procurement and contracting services for the university.
Provides quality & reliable market analysis, efficient systems & services and excellent customer service to researchers, faculty and staff as it relates to procurement and contracting at the university.Oversees the overall management, training, and evaluation of staff.Develops, implements, and ensures compliance of all university policies and procedures and is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and external statutes, regulations and policies.Participates in the planning and implementation of strategic and tactical initiatives.Oversees the supplier relationship management that provides ongoing oversight of key supplier performance metrics, pricing structures, historically underutilized business (HUB) partnerships, pricing structures, and value added services.
