Position Summary Information
Performs complex professional accounting tasks at a University level within the Division of Finance.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years of accounting experience in a business office.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Experience in higher education.

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Excellent oral and written communication; customer service, problem-solving skills, plus reconciliation abilities. Able to comprehend and apply rules and regulations. Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations in a specialized field. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs plus experience working with an online accounting system.

Detailed Job Duties
Prepare adjusting entries for complex clearing accounts, bank credit card accounts, student business services, and ad-hoc account issues and problems. Researches discrepancies reported by various sources and makes appropriate corrections and/or adjustments.
Work under the direction of the Senior Financial Accountant to ensure the financial transactions of the university are accurate and timely recorded. Review daily reports, identify financial discrepancies and correct and monitor accounts, assisting in solving accounting problems, initiate transactions, prepare and review reports to include MARAD data and ad-hoc reports.
Assist TAMUG Accounts Payable in auditing monthly PCard Expense Reports. Process PCard reimbursements received from the State Comptroller.
Coordinate TAMUG inventory including completion of physical inventories for the departments including spot checks when needed. Serve as Alternate Property Officer for Galveston Financial Management Services Department.
Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, surprise cash counts and daily check writing functions.
