Position Summary Information
This position serves as an instructional developer/designer of professional development courses for ESL/BIL teachers as well as an online instructor/coach/mentor for those teachers. The position also provides project support in terms of data collection and organization.
This position reports to the principal investigator and works closely with other Research Associates.
Major/Essential Duties of Job
• Develop and update online course materials for ESL/BIL teachers. • Build, implement, and support online courses within the learning management system. • Provide technical support and troubleshoot technical problems. • Provide instruction for select online courses. • Work with district/campus IT contacts to set up/troubleshoot observation cameras • Communicate with teachers daily through email and/or phone to address research-related project objectives. • Evaluate participants’ academic progress and overall effectiveness. • Complete online classroom observations, and provide teacher mentoring/coaching feedback. • Collect, organize, and secure project data. • Maintain/update project website. • Develop advertising and marketing materials for online courses.
• Assist with project reports. • Assist with delivery/mailing of project materials to teachers/schools.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Education, Business, or related field; OR, baccalaureate degree in Education, Business, or related field with at least three years of experience in large-scale Education research project related to educational technology and logistics planning and at least 5 years of experience training adult learners.

State of Texas teacher certification in ESL/Bil.
Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Extensive knowledge/experience in building, implementing, and supporting online courses via learning management systems, such as Blackboard. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work with teachers online. Knowledge of Texas ELPS, TEKS, BTLPT, ESL/BIL certification standards and exams. Knowledge and experience carrying out experimental research studies. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
