Position Summary Information
Provides centralized coordination for the utilization of energy management control systems in campus facilities.
Required Education and Experience
High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Active participation and completion of the Utilities Control System Technician section of the TAMU Control Technician Training Program within six months of employment. Three years in heating ventilation and air conditioning design or automated building operation control systems or completion of an apprenticeship/assistantship program in utility plant operations.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates Degree in a technical field. Experience in maintaining automated building operation control systems in a multi-facility campus or university setting, experience in air and water balance of HVAC systems.
Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Valid Texas Class “C” drivers license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Air condition and refrigeration contractor’s license. Journeyman electrical license. License to handle Type I & II refrigerants.
Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic controls, calibration techniques, air balancing, indoor air quality requirements and metering of energy use. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Detailed Job Duties
Gathers information of HVAC systems needed to evaluate proper operation such as air temperatures, air pressures, water temperatures, water pressures, fan and motor RPM, etc.
Repair or replace HVAC sensors and other control or metering devices as directed. This may require driving a university vehicle to different locations on campus..
Calibrates electronic / pneumatic meters and controls.
Responds to campus hot/cold HVAC complaints.
Assists in the operation of the Energy Management System in the areas of basic operating platform, trending, scheduling, and a working knowledge of modular building controllers.

Assists with training of EMS system users and monitors utilization of the system
