The Medical Affairs Company Renal Clinical Liaison (Southwest) in Texas
Territory: TX, LA (Preferred Residing area Dallas or Houston)
The Renal Clinical Liaison (RCL) will represent the Company and its approved products indicated for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis and mineral bone disorder (MBD). The RCL will develop and maintain long-term, peer-to-peer relationships with critical stakeholders including key nephrology health care providers (HCPs) and other health care professionals specializing in Chronic Kidney Disease and Mineral Bone Disorder in key medical and dialysis centers in the US.
The RCL will function as a field based extension the Company’s Medical Affairs department serving as an education liaison between these key stakeholders, and their renal business unit. The primary role of the RCL will be to “enhance knowledge” by educating HCPs, “expand evidence” by providing insights into unmet patient and customer needs, and share “external insights” by providing intelligence from scientific venues or asking key scientific inquiries in the field.
Present HCP focused educational materials and programs that improve the management of mineral metabolism. Topics include CKD-MBD disease state education, patient self-management education, and adherence and motivational interviewing via one on one or in groups via webinar, in-person, with slide decks or scientific articles
Provide education as requested by HCP on Company Products
Serve as liaison with professional groups as a speaker, member or resource. These groups include but are not limited to CRN, ANNA, Dialysis Chains and the ESRD Networks
Develop relationships with key nephrology professionals within the territory. Assess unmet medical and educational needs.
As requested, assist with clinical training of new hire sales representatives
Be available as a clinical resource
Coordinate clinical consultant activities with the Manager, Director and the Senior Director of Clinical Services
Be active in professional renal organizations such as ANNA or CRN
Attend national professional meetings as assigned such as, NKF, ASN, and ANNA.
Develop continuing education plan for professional growth and development
PharmD, PhD, MD (or equivalent) registered nurse, registered dietitian, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Minimum of BS degree required, advanced degree desirable
Nephrology certification an advantage
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in nephrology
Industry experience required, experience in Medical Affairs preferred
Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
Therapeutic knowledge and clinical experience in renal/nephrology and chronic kidney disease
Clear understanding of local medical practice and clinical decision making in regards to patient care within the therapeutic area
Interpretation of key scientific data and ability to translate this information to meet educational, clinical, and research needs
Understanding of healthcare systems affecting patient care
Knowledge of FDA requirements and PhRMA Code, including regulations governing compliant scientific exchange
Demonstrated ability to integrate and work in cross functional network/matrix
Demonstrated project management ability
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
Ability to travel locally and regionally, up to 60% (approx.10 overnights per month).
