ETMC EMS EMS Lead Mechanic (REMOUNT) in Tyler, Texas


Responsible for repairing, maintaining and performing routine maintenance on all ambulance, corporate and outside customers vehicles. To ensure that all vehicles are repaired to meet DOT standards. Responsible for overseeing the mechanical failures and the proper repairs of all vehicles.


Performs vehicle maintenance in a timely and cost effective manner, and insures that each repair is done to the best of his/her capabilities.

Responsible for keeping a safe, clean working environment.

Responsible for checking and maintaining all fluid levels, tire pressure, fuel levels are meeting ETMC fleet standards before returning vehicle to service.

Responsible for reviewing new vehicles upon delivery with the Fleet Manager and Director of Operations to ensure these vehicles are prepared for service in a timely manner.

Oversees the day to day duties of the other mechanics, to include the repairs made and to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition by evaluating the breakdowns and repairs made.

Ability to communicate with other workers and outside customers in a friendly manner

Oversees other mechanics performance

Performs other duties as directed by Manager.

Reports any vehicle damage to Fleet or Remount Manager immediately.

Supports and adheres to ETMC policies and procedures.

Conforms to dress code and personal hygiene standards.


Supervises 3 or more mechanics. Assist the Manager of Fleet or Remount when needed. Fill in when the Manager is not available.



Must have High School diploma or equivalent. Must have knowledge of the mechanical and electrical systems and their function on emergency vehicles. Minimum of five years experience in diesel truck and fuel injection systems and/or a combination of experience and education.


  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Required

  • Must have automotive electrical experience.

  • Must have knowledge or experience with 6.9 liter or larger diesel engines and the associated support systems involved in the functioning of a vehicle.

Certification and Licenser:

  • ASE certification a plus, but not required.


  • Must have the training or knowledge to operate and diagnose .
