Baylor’s School of Education, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2019, ranks among the nation’s top 20 education schools located at private universities. The teacher education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes undergraduate degrees in elementary education and middle or secondary education in the core subject areas; Master’s degrees in education with several cognate options; an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction and a PhD in Curriculum and Teaching. The primary responsibilities of this position include: • Pursuing an evidence-based research agenda that in time is capable of garnering national recognition; • Teaching in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs; • Participating in individual or collaborative activities to secure external funding; • Recruiting and mentoring students; and • Providing leadership to the program and department at a time of rapid growth and innovation in the lives of those units.

Required Qualifications

Consistent with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include: • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field (by Fall 2017); • Evidence of, or strong potential for, grant writing and grant-funded research; • Evidence of having established a scholarly record; • Experience teaching in Preschool-12 settings; and • Commitment to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have: • Developed a program of research related to improving instruction and student achievement; • Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice; • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate, pedagogically sound teaching practices in Preschool-12 educational environments; • Knowledge of pedagogy appropriate for culturally and/or linguistically diverse students; and/ or • Teaching, leadership or research experience in urban schools.
