This faculty member will have three primary roles:
• Providing high quality instruction for the middle and secondary teacher candidates in field-based seminars and instructional methods courses; • Providing support/leadership for school improvement on the Professional Development School campuses; and, • Establishing a research agenda related to preparing teachers in a field-based or clinical setting.
Additional responsibilities may include: • Serving as a University Liaison at a PDS site, • Supervising field placements • Mentoring adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants who supervise or teach in the field based program, and • Teaching middle or secondary education courses.
Consistent with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include: • Earned doctorate in appropriate field (by Fall 2017); • Evidence of continuing scholarship or potential for establishing a research agenda related to preparing teachers in a field-based or clinical setting; • Experience teaching in PK-12 settings; and • Expertise in at least one of the following areas at the middle or secondary level: English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies or urban education
Preference will be given to applicants with: • Expertise in developing and obtaining grants or other external funding; • Expertise in working with diverse student populations; and/or • Experience in professional development schools or other field-based programs
Rank and Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
