Position Description

Baylor’s School of Education, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2019, ranks among the nation’s top 20 education schools located at private universities. With 50 full-time faculty members, the school’s growing research portfolio complements its long-standing commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring.

The school boasts an array of excellent academic offerings in three academic departments – Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership and Educational Psychology. Baylor’s undergraduate program in teacher education, enrolling 450 students, has earned the School of Education national distinction for its innovative partnerships with local schools that provide future teachers deep clinical preparation. Nearly 175 graduate students pursue advanced study and professional preparation in Master’s, Ed.S., Ed.D. and Ph.D. programs.

The Department of Educational Leadership offers graduate programs in Higher Education, K-12 Leadership, and Sport Mangement. These programs include Master’s of Education degrees in Principal Certification Preparation, Higher Education and Student Affairs, and Sport Management; an EdD in K-12 Educational Leadership; and a PhD in Higher Education Studies and Leadership. The primary responsibilities of this position include: • Teaching in the graduate programs; • Participating in individual or collaborative activities to secure external funding; • Recruiting and mentoring students; and • Providing service to the department, university and the profession.

Required Qualifications

Consistent with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include: • Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Policy (in hand by appointment start date); • Evidence of, or strong potential, for establishing a scholarly record; • Evidence of teaching and executive administrative leadership in Preschool-16 school systems; • Evidence of scholarly activity through state and national conference presentations; and • Evidence of, or strong potential for, grant writing and grant-funded research.

Preferred Qualifications

Rank and Salary Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor of Educational Leadership. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience.
