Position Summary

Safely drive and operate a fully loaded concrete mixer truck on city, highway and off-road driving conditions. Ability to deliver and perform against a set of specifications (slump, time, etc.) as described on a job order. Perform job duties in a safe, customer-oriented, focused, and diverse culture. Possess mechanical ability as it relates to mixer operations. Ability to maintain the cleanliness and maintenance of mixer. Be a positive, front-line representative to the Martin Marietta community. The daily work schedule may consist of six, up to 10+, hour days with overtime on both voluntary and mandatory basis for the work week as well as weekends, depending on business requirements.


  • Arrive on time to work according to job schedule

  • Perform DOT pre and post-trip inspections (Vehicle Condition Report)

  • Ensure vehicle is fueled at the end of every day, as required

  • Uses map book and experience to take the most direct route to jobsites to ensure on-time delivery

  • Deliver concrete per delivery ticket specifications. Any address corrections MUST be communicated immediately to Dispatch, and corrected on the job ticket

  • Maintain DOT Driver Log Book

  • Observe all job safety practices and applicable traffic laws

  • Prior to departure from jobsite, responsible to complete all paperwork for delivery tickets according to company procedure

  • Collect payment on-site (check, C.O.D.) and process according to procedure

  • Safely maneuver construction site, observe customer’s equipment and conditions, and maintain job site cleanliness

  • Operate mixer safely during loading and unloading

  • Interface and coordinate with finisher, sales personnel, or contractor

  • Rinse mixer and chutes after delivery

  • Maintain radio contact with Dispatch (arrival, start/finish pour, delivery events)

  • Wear proper PPE and company uniform

  • Keep mixer clean inside and out

  • Immediately report any accidents or safety violations per company policy

  • Must maintain and complete company and governmental paperwork, as required

  • Must comply with all company safety rules, procedures, and applicable government regulations

  • Perform other duties, as assigned


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required

  • CDL Class B with 1 year minimum driving experience and clean driving record

  • Previous experience operating a concrete mixer truck preferred

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to interact professionally with customers, plant employees, dispatchers, mechanics and other drivers as needed

  • Ability to work various hours including overtime
