About Brazos Electric: Brazos Electric is a 3,241 megawatt generation and transmission cooperative whose members' service territory extends across 68 counties from the Texas Panhandle to Houston. Organized in 1941, Brazos Electric was the first cooperative formed in the Lone Star state for the purpose of generating and supplying electrical power.

Position Summary:Provides electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the transmission system. Performs system studies, analyzes simulated or actual operating results, develops solutions to current or future system issues, and appropriately reports findings and recommendations. Prepares reports with project justifications for budgetary purposes and regulatory bodies.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:Performs steady-state and dynamic analyses of ERCOT approved loadflow models utilizing PSSE or PowerWorld software under the direction of the Planning Manager. Annually prepares near term and long term transmission planning assessments in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, ERCOT protocols and Brazos Planning Procedures. Prepares a five-year Construction Work Plan containing detailed transmission system improvements and member extension projects. Annually creates a five- year transmission and member extension budget. Prepares and submits modelling data for changes and additions to the transmission system in accordance with the ERCOT protocols and utilizing established software tools. Conducts operational studies concerning day-to-day transmission system operations and makes recommendations. Performs generation interconnection studies in accordance with the ERCOT protocols and Brazos Planning Procedures. Serves on and participates in various ERCOT committees and task forces related to the operation and planning of the transmission system. Annually coordinates and participates in planning meetings with member cooperatives to exchange information regarding future plans, schedule projects and evaluate the performance of the transmission system. Performs special assignments as required.


Education & Experience Requirements:Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Five years of progressive responsibility and varied engineering experience is preferred. Additional engineering experience working in the electric utility industry is highly desirable. Prefer a Texas registered Professional Engineer.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:Requires working inside in a controlled environment and occasionally outside in varying weather conditions. Requires sitting for extended periods of time. Requires working overtime and traveling at times with short notice. Requires hearing within normal range, hearing aids are permitted. Requires vision within normal range, corrective lens are permitted.
