DutiesMajor Duties

The Food Service Worker is to perform a range of non-supervisory food service work. You will perform food Service Work with some supervision. In Nutrition and Food Services, Central Texas Veterans Health Care system (CTVHCS), Temple Texas at the temple and Waco campuses. Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

·Follows printed menus, serve correct food items when assigned to a position on the tray assembly line;

·Assists in transport of food from food bank refrigerator to tray assembly lines;

·Assist with movement of tray carts form therrnalization refrigerator and with placement of carts in serving units;

·Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping etc..;

·Attends training courses and other classes and meetings as scheduled;

·Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday– Friday: 5:45 a.m. – 2:15pm and 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and rotating days off.

Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Required to be able to lift, push and/or pull heavy equipment and supplies. Frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally 45. Must be able to do continuous standing and walking and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Must have good physical and mental coordination to keep pace with others in the work unit. Must be able to climb ladders as required in cleaning and storage of supplies and equipment. Must be able to remain alert at all times while performing assigned duties in order to avoid mistakes and/or accidental injury to self or others.

Must be able work under pressure of peak workloads and in accordance with established schedule. Work is performed on slippery floors, in areas with above and below normal temperatures, high humidity, loud noises and around live steam and/or electrical equipment. May be subject to cuts and burns during performance of normal range of duties.

Applicants will be ranked based on three quality groups, as follows:

  • Best Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that substantially exceed the minimum qualifications of the position and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;

  • Well Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that exceed the minimum qualification of the position and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;

  • Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
