The certified Nurse Practitioner functions as a member of the medical care management team. The Nurse Practitioner plans and implements interventions, and evaluates patient responses under the direction and in collaboration with a physician supervisor or designated attending physician.The certifiedNurse Practitioner may perform the initial evaluation and management for new admissions to critical care areas; perform necessary procedures including, but not limited to central venous lines, intubation and arterial lines placement; respond to code blue and general floor or critical care areas emergencies when requested by nursing staff or physicians; coordinate care with the attending physician and consulting physicians on the case.The certifiedNurse Practitioner will have back up by phone or in person from the critical care physician on call, will use approved protocols and order sets and will help support the policies and projects of the hospital and the critical care committee.
- Minimum of five years experience in critical care. Two years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred in acute care setting
- Computer literate, good analytical skills
Position requires strong leadership, creativity, high-energy, effective written and verbal skills.
· Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program · Masters degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program · Current Texas ( or BNE compact State) license with recognition by the BNE as an advance practice nurse · National nurse practitioner certification · Prescriptive authority by the BNE and BME. · Current BCLS and ACLS
