DuPont Pioneer offers various internship programs which offer a wide variety of experiences within the DuPont Pioneer business. The sorghum co-op is directed at getting first-hand training in applied breeding practices and the use of new technologies in the development of superior hybrids. The position will include both field and office-related activities.

Field activities will include data collection and assisting with nursery activities. Office-related duties will include hands-on data analysis, literature searches and background research, as well as assisting scientists with daily activities. Training in the one or more of the following areas will be gained from the experience depending on entry-level experience of the candidate: experimental design, marker-assisted selection, genomic prediction, QTL mapping, and association analysis.

The 2017 position locations will include research centers located in Texas and Kansas. At Weslaco, Texas the position start would be between February 2017 and May 2017, according to candidate’s availability; early start preferably.

Part of the Co-op Internship Program is completing an assigned project and presenting the results at the conclusion of the internship.


Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field with at least a Senior standing. Those pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree are preferred. Previous research experience preferred, but not required. The candidate should feel comfortable working with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Previous experience or coursework in data analysis, statistics, and quantitative genetics is desired. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Candidate should be able to work independently or with a team. Candidate must be willing to work outside and in the office.
