The Big Picture: (general purpose of the position)

Provides the day-to-day management and client service support for assigned government contractor clients. They will serve multiple clients with various employee benefits and act as a liaison between the clients, brokers, vendors and internal Company resources and departments. They serve as a subject matter expert on the Services Contract Act and the Davis Bacon Act

The Day-to-Day: (Essential duties of the position)

  • Acts as point person and advocate for clients

  • Responds to escalated member and/or client issues and finds solutions

  • Researches issues and documents all activity and changes

  • Communicates problem resolution to both client and internal departments

  • Provides direction to internal departments regarding process changes, plan changes, billing etc.

  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with both clients and vendors

  • Keeps client informed of all the day-to-day changes, billing or enrollment issues, compliance information, etc.

  • Documents detailed account activity, manages account information, creates reports and analyzes data, completes RFP’s and court orders

  • Ensures accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on the Services Contract Act and the Davis Bacon Act

  • Stays abreast of current news, legislation, technologies and trends in the employee benefits industry as it relates to government contractors and communicates relevant information to clients and department employees

  • Assists in the open enrollment process and all activities with the client, vendors and internal departments

  • Drives client retention & up-sells other benefits and/or services to clients

  • Attends trade shows and industry-specific conferences

  • Travels to clients offices on a regular basis

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Account Manager – Government Sales are integral to bringing in new accounts for the Company as well as maintaining positive relationships with existing clients

  • Problem solves issues pertaining to the accounts the position manages and negotiates the terms and conditions of accounts

  • Principle figure of contact between the Company and the client, and must ensure customer satisfaction

  • Managing existing clients in a manner that grows business

  • Ability to find new accounts and meet with prospective business clients in open sales territories while satisfactorily meeting 100% of Account Management responsibilities

  • Knowledge of employee benefit plans

  • Excellent customer service or account management skills

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and/or bookkeeping

  • Exceptional ability to be detail-oriented and organized

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Ability to explain complex information to a general audience

  • Knowledge of and skill in Microsoft Office – Work, Excel and Outlook

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and to meet constant deadlines

  • Ability to travel frequently required

  • Education & Experience: (Minimum level of required education and experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience

  • 3 years’ experience in the employee benefits industry

  • 1 years of experience in an account management role

  • 2 years of experience in account sales

  • Experience in using Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets

  • Expert computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

  • Experience using CRM software preferred, salesforce experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Group 1 insurance license (must have or obtain in the first 90 days of employment)
