Camelot Education is accepting resumes for a Benefits Administrator position to join our HR Team in Austin, TX.

Camelot Education is a nationally recognized organization providing educational services to children and adolescents throughout the United States. Camelot has over 40 campuses located in six states and is continuing to grow. Camelot provides Alternative Education services to inner city schools for children who have dropped out of school, been expelled or at risk for either: and Therapeutic Day Schools for students whose disabilities prevent them from attending mainstream public schools. We are currently hiring a Benefits Administrator to support this growing organization. This position reports directly to our Director of HR, and is located at our central office in Austin, TX (Southwest Austin). Job Purpose

Responsible for the management and administration of employee benefit plans for all company operations. Provides guidance and assistance to system-wide employees on various employee benefit plans and serves as a liaison between the employee and the service carriers. Manages all insurance billings and assists employees and facility representatives on other related human resource-related issues, such as workers compensation, employment verification, and unemployment claims. This position will also be responsible to be a back-up for the payroll manager as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Manages and administers the various company sponsored benefit programs, such as life, medical, dental, accident and disability, long term disability and short term disability. Processes employee benefit enrollments, COBRA notifications, changes and terminations.

  • Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, amicable resolution. Maintains continuous contact with facilities, insurance companies, insurance brokers, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.

  • Manages and administers all FMLA, Leaves of Absence, and Short Term Disability.

  • Reconciles and audits monthly insurance bills to ensure proper payment and coverage prior to the due date.

  • Investigates, analyzes and resolves a wide range of benefit issues, and documents the steps taken in the resolution process.

  • Acts as facilitator of the company 401(k) retirement plan. Assists employees with enrolling, loans, distributions and rollovers. Ensures timely and correct payroll transfers to employee’s individual plans. Assists in end of year 401(k) testing.

  • Educates, updates and assistants company facilities with benefit changes and open enrollment periods.

  • Assists Human Resources Director in obtaining statistics and information as part of the renewal process. Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for management.

  • Processes unemployment paperwork in a timely manner and provides proper documentation that supports favorable claims.

  • Assists in other human resource duties and projects that include areas of workers compensation, recruiting and compensation.

  • Assists the payroll manager as a back-up.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and to be determined based company needs and business requirements.

Required Experience:

Position Requirements

  • Three to five years of Human Resources/Benefit related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or related field required, and/or equivalent experience.

  • Understanding of benefit and employment related laws and standards.

  • Ability to maintain effective work relationships and to interact effectively and courteously with employees, human resource representatives, insurance agencies: and outside agencies.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel 10 percent of the time.

  • Works in office area as well as throughout the facilities and outside locations. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, moves, use of hands and fingers to handle, operate objects and controls intermittently during working hours.
