A brief summary of the Role and Responsibilities you will be involved in:
Represents SPUR Freight services in offering unparalleled customer service.
Focuses on ?Happy Clients? and strives to offer unparalleled customer service.
Provides local cartage services while operating a tractor-trailer truck (or other truck as assigned if local) over intercity routes and at times spanning several states.
Ensures timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure.
Loads and unloads cargo per client?s specifications.
Keeps accurate delivery and inventory records for assigned delivery cargo.
Provides timely communication with team members regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out.
Handles general fleet maintenance including; appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs.
Focuses on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws.
Assists with general warehouse duties as assigned including, but not limited to general cleaning, inventory movements, inventory counts, operating fork-lift and general data entry.
Maintains and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations. Maintains driving logs and ensures rest period compliance per DOT regulations. Maintains requirements of CDL license.
Provides backup to other Fleet Operators as assigned.
Our Local CDL Driver responsibilities involve delivery and pick-up, reporting, operations, service, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) is required, with endorsements subject to business needs. Three to five years of local and/or CDL driving experience with insurable driving record focused on safety. Flat bed experience is required. Must be able to work in a team in an environment with rapid change. Capable of professional face to face client communications and effective active listening skills. Proven demonstration of DOT and/or transportation industry compliance. Proven ability handle assigned tasks effectively with a focus on providing unparalleled client service.
FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Physical Requirements: Position requires: ability to operate and drive heavy equipment. Ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of medium to heavy weights of 60-100 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is medium.
