Kforce Communications Coordinator in Austin, Texas

Kforce's client in Austin, Texas (TX) is looking for a Communications Coordinator.Summary:The Communications Coordinator will have a strong background in content production, specifically copy writing for multiple platforms-print, social media, news releases, web and executive communications-and audiences-local and state government employees and leadership, IT customers, local community members and stakeholders. The Communications Coordinator must be an expert in project management and prioritization, be comfortable working with a lean budget and have strong interpersonal skills. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform copywriting, coordination and quality control of production of marketing collateral and publications

  • Manage internal communications channels and lead internal communications efforts

  • Review and edit the internal communications for tone, active voice, content, and format to ensure elimination of overly technical language and make the information consumable for a lay audience

  • Consult with project teams on marketing, communicating and networking key initiatives across the community

  • Serve as the official spokesperson for the CIO and Office of the CIO

  • Network with local media, industry trade reporters, private/public partners and communication channels to ensure narratives/stories have the appropriate visibility

  • Manage participation and application to government and private award and recognitions in alignment with IT Brand Strategy

  • Coordinate, write and publish content for social media channels to ensure quality, tone and brand

  • Design and implement a digital communications strategy to successfully develop transparent, collaborative and productive customer relationships using best management practices for communication tools and practices

  • Responsible for developing, managing and curating website content for both Intranet and Internet; Ensure content is up-to-date, relevant and usable for identified audiences

  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) college or university with major coursework in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising or related field plus four (4) years of progressive experience in developing and implementing programs of public information, one of which was in a team leader/coordinator capacity preferred

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Marketing Communications Coordinator

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with external documents such as newsletters or demonstrated equivalent writing and publishing design skills

  • Experience in project management or coordination of complex, multifaceted initiatives

  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint, preferred; knowledge of Associated Press Style

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

  • Experience working in the public sector for a non-profit organization delivering community services to community residents, preferably for a governmental organization with an elected leadership preferred

  • Knowledge of public information, marketing, public relations, media relations programs

  • Knowledge of the functions and organization of municipal government, to include the relationships between departments, divisions and agencies

  • Knowledge of the principles associated with the role of meeting the necessary standards of customer service

  • Skill in oral and written communication

  • Ability to interpret policies and guidelines

  • Ability to write articles for publication

  • Ability to lead and train others
