Required Skills

  • Experience with AWS services (in particular, DynamoDb, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, EC2, CloudFormation, API Gateway, Cloudwatch, IoT, IAM, KMS).

  • Experience with no-sql databases such as DynamoDb or Cassandra.

  • Fluent in two or more of the following development languages: Java, node.js, Python.

  • Experience building intuitive, high performance APIs.

  • Ability to contribute to technical conversations, decisions, strategies, and perform code reviews in a complex environment.

  • Experienced in quality practices, techniques, and tools at all layers of the stack.

  • Ability to effectively lead a team of cloud solutions developers and DevOps engineers to deliver high-availability infrastructure with a focus on continuous improvement to meet evolving business, application, and compliance requirements.

  • Experienced in delivering cloud infrastructure and software solutions in an Agile environment, using sprints and Kanban methodologies.

  • People management: Experience leading the professional development of a team by understanding the team’s individual skill levels, working styles, motivations, and professional goals; and serving as a coach, mentor, and #1 fan—both technically and professionally.

  • Technical management: Experience leading the technical development of a team by cultivating effective process to protect their time from disruptions, leading scope discussions to evaluate risks and minimize post-deployment work, and facilitating high quality work estimates to improve planning.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Spring Boot applications.

  • Experience with streaming big data processing.

  • Experience with high availability, high-scale, performance systems.

Critical responsibilities will be:

  1. Collaborating closely with Product Management to ensure feature delivery is properly scoped, estimated, and architected in alignment with the product roadmap.

  2. Consulting with cross-functional SMEs and developers to deliver according to business requirements.

  3. Performing code reviews to ensure the architectural integrity is reinforced in every deployment.

  4. Leading and/or participating in architecture, development, or DevOps discussions to clarify what we should do versus what we could do.

  5. Designing and developing to reduce the risk of architecture change / designing evolutionary architectures.

  6. Participating in capacity planning of cloud infrastructure.

  7. Collaboration with Product Management, subject matter experts, and developers to gain a holistic understanding of the technical vision and the business drivers, and exercising that understanding to analyze and communicate tradeoffs between usability and performance.

  8. Advocating for what’s best for the team, the product, and the company (ultimately, the stakeholders).

  9. Celebrating key wins / being the team’s biggest cheerleader!
