Dematic Corp is seeking an Operations Research Intern in our Austin, TX office. The Operations Research Intern will work closely with the Operations Research team to design, optimize, and implement intelligent ideas to the warehouse, as well as apply data science knowledge to our product and process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand, analyze and document project requirements

  • Data parsing, processing and profiling

  • Data analysis, simulation, and algorithm creation

  • Make presentation and document results

  • Present analysis findings to internal team

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master degree (completed or in progress) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Math, other Engineering majors or equivalent field

  • Preferred coursework to include some of the following fields:

  • Simulation

  • Programming

  • Operations Research (Linear/Non-linear/Integer/Dynamic Programming)

  • Stochastic Processes

  • Supply Chain/Logistics/Warehousing/Transportation

  • Background/skills in some of the following applications:

  • Data parsing and manipulation

  • Simulation modeling

  • Mathematical modeling of processes and systems

  • Mathematical optimization (algorithm development) of processes and systems

  • Inferential statistical analysis skills

  • Linear and non-linear regression modeling experience

  • Object-oriented programming skills – Java (preferred), Python (preferred), or VC++ Data analysis skills – Python (preferred), or R

  • Writing skills to create business documents using both MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Performs full range of standard work for the professional field.

  • Identifies and resolves problems that are more complex and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.

  • Highly motivated, positive attitude and goal orientated
