The Principal Cloud Engineer is an essential part of a dynamic team that develops, tests, and maintains SunPower's energy portal applications. You will engineer, develop, as well as consult on design decisions for SunPower's production monitoring products—a core component of our solar solutions. These applications are technical in nature and integrate closely with the supported hardware, while providing a refined and intuitive user experience.

Required Skills

• Expertise and work experience with most AWS services (DynamoDb, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, EC2, Cloudformation, API Gateway, Cloudwatch, IoT, IAM, KMS).

• Fluent in two or more of the following development languages Java, node.js, Python, or C#.

• Ability to write clean, minimal code in a complex environment.

• Experience building intuitive high performance APIs.

• Experience with at least one no-sql database such as DynamoDb, Cassandra, etc.

• Exceptional collaboration, listening, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Successful track record collaborating with product owners and engineers to ensure delivered solutions optimally meet the business requirements.

• Commitment to collaboration with other developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance.

• Interest in coaching, teaching, mentoring and learning.

Critical responsibilities will be:

  1. Designing and developing to reduce the risk of architecture change and/or designing evolutionary architectures.

  2. Consulting with teams and leading architecture discussions to identify what we should do versus what we could do.

  3. Capacity planning of cloud infrastructure.

  4. Planning for testing at production scale.

  5. Planning to automate everything.

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 6+ years or Ph.D. and 4+ years

  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
