Charles Schwab Principal Security Architect in Austin, Texas
We are looking for a results-oriented technology leader with a strong track record of architecting enterprise security solutions. The Advisor Services Technology teambuilds/supports/maintainsa suite ofplatforms/applicationsfor Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). This role will provide technical and security leadership to our engineering teams and tasked with ensuring best in breed security posture for our Advisors. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in software engineering, architecture, and large-scale delivery in a fast-paced, agile environment and must be capable of influencing across the enterprise and partnering with business stakeholders to drive product vision and execution.

The primary responsibility of the Security Architect is three-fold and described below in further detail. In addition to this, candidates should have a passion for emerging technologies and be capable of influencing and inspiring the team in developing innovative solutions that meet the business needs.
Strategy & leadership
Define target state security architecture for Advisor services domains and collaborate with peers to manage incremental evolution and progression using technology roadmap
Evolve and grow security architecture baseline with target architectures, patterns and guidelines
Work with and influence business and product owners in regard to technology controls and risk mitigation techniques related to application layer security
Promote awareness of security architecture principles and standards in architecture and development community
Mentor and guide architects and tech leads on security and risk management best practices
Be highly visible in the development community at Schwab, build and sustain good working relationships with development teams and involve them in the overall Application Security strategy
Ability to threat model for proactively identifying threats based on architecture and design to derive security requirements
Impact analysis and remediation strategies for key initiatives of interest to security such as migration to cloud, expansion of APIs etc
Governance and oversight for all architecture changes for compliance with security standards and alignment with guidelines
Participate in defining secure coding practices and leveraging both manual and code scanning tools to perform security code audits and design reviews
Provide security consulting, design, reviews, and recommendations for development activities and key initiatives
Evaluate, design, and implement processes to track remediation of Application Security deficiencies and reporting mechanisms, including metrics/key themes that communicate risk to business owners and leadership
Engagement with broader teams in Schwab Technology Services
Participate in development and implementation of security architecture principles and standards
Participate in the development and communication of Application Security & Development Standards and Training
What you have
10+ years of software engineering experience (Java, .NET preferred)
3+ years architecting scalable, highly-available security solutions
Experience with security authorization technologies such as Oauth and SAML
Experience implementing security for microservices
Experience implementing Single Sign On SSO between multiple partner applications
Demonstrated track record of making technical decisions at the application and organization level (vendor/technology selection, solution architecture, assessing tradeoffs)
Experience architecting and/or developing cloud-based or cloud-ready apps strong preferred
Experience with CI/CD (Atlassian tool suite preferred)
Experience with Agile development methodology and Test-Driven Development
Demonstrated ability to define and communicate technical strategy and vision and influence across the Enterprise is essential
Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire and influence teams and partners in delivering technology-enabled business solutions that meet business needs
Ability to execute at scale in a dynamic environment
Ability to build strong relationships and promote collaboration
Ability to coach, mentor, and provide direct, timely feedback
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team
Good verbal and written communication skills
