Job/Position DescriptionRehab Therapy Tech IIThe Therapist Technician will be hired and/or directly supervised by a Rehabilitation Therapist III or IV. The Therapist Technicianand#146;s primary responsibilities include: assist the habilitation/rehabilitation supervisor in providing assistance to individuals for an assigned therapeutic specialty, (e.g., supported employment job coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation and vocational/day program). Work involves assisting with services as directed by implementing treatment plans for assigned therapeutic specialty. May accompany individuals to and from activities and appointment, perform housekeeping duties in therapeutic activity areas. Valid driverand#146;s license and ability to drive a state vehicle may be required. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgmentEssential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Prepares materials for assessments based on prior assessments and provides assistance to individuals through hands-on methods and direct contact observations by assisting the habilitation/rehabilitation supervisor in providing assistance to individuals for an assigned therapeutic specialty, (e.g., supported employment job coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation and vocational/day program). 60%Completes observation notes. 10%Collects data related to treatment plans as instructed. 10%Assists in completing assessments and response to interventions. 10%Work with Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to maintain a connection with the staff at this level and when assisting with the development of treatment plans for their assigned discipline are able to provide feedback that is feasible for DSPs while in the best interest of the individuals. 5%Maintains current skills in relation to assigned responsibilities. 5%Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsValid Texas Drivers License. Knowledge Skills AbilitiesSome knowledge of therapeutic methods and techniques in the rehabilitation therapy area of specialization of developmental disabilities.Ability to communicate effectively.Experience in the use of equipment, tools, and materials used in therapeutic activities.Ability in written and oral communication.Ability to assist in development of treatment and support plans.Ability to collect data collection for assigned therapeutic specialty (e.g., music therapy, therapeutic recreation, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, or vocational rehabilitation).Ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software.General knowledge of ICF-IID regulations and State Supported Living Center policies and procedures is preferred.Physical requirements are the same as those for direct contact staff positions.Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.Initial Screening CriteriaExperience in therapeutic work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
