Charles Schwab Retirement Client Services Specialist in Austin, Texas

Your Opportunity

Retirement Business Services’ (RBS) business model is B2B. Our clients are third-party administrators (TPAs), independent record-keepers (IRKs), financial advisors and plan sponsors (companies with retirement plans for their employees). All these clients have something in common- they service, advise, or provide retirement account options and products for companies (or their own employees) that provide retirement benefits to their employees. In our role, we act as either directed custodian or directed trustee for these plans (accounts).

In RBS, we believe that:

  • Client expectations around simplicity and being easy to do business with are accelerating at a rapid pace.

  • Great service, delivered every time, all the time, is the only sustainable winning strategy.

  • Scale matters today, and will matter more and more over time.

Service and scale are essential to running our day-to-day business and fueling growth. So, no matter what our role is, we continually ask ourselves and our colleagues these three questions when making decisions, large or small:

  • Does this decision make it easier to do business with us?

  • Looking through clients’ eyes, does this decision put client service first?

  • Does this decision add to or subtract from our scale?

If those beliefs resonate with you, consider our Client Service Manager opportunity. The Client Service Manager will be responsible for providing service to Advisor and Plan Sponsor direct clients. This team is based in both our Phoenix and Austin, TX locations. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic client service manager to elevate the level of service we provide to our clients.

What you are good at

  • Act as the primary relationship contact for Advisors and Plan Sponsors related to the daily administration of trust accounts, including trade approval, cashiering and distributions.

  • Provide excellent client service and persistently train Advisors and Plan Sponsor contacts on processes, procedures, and systems.

  • Supervise client service levels and frequently report satisfaction levels to management

  • Independently research and resolve inquiries and mitigate potential complaints.

  • Participate as an active member in project teams, and participate in user acceptance testing.

  • Actively communicate and work with internal departments such as Conversions, Operations and Relationship Management team to initiate change to benefit clients.

  • Be client focused and responsible for communicating effectively with clients.

  • Research and respond to client issues related to account management, problem resolution, and/or solution-based service improvements.

  • Work with clients to enhance existing relationships and adopt Schwab products and services.

  • Provide training to clients to enhance the client experience and improve efficiencies in working with Schwab.

What you have

  • Excellent communication skills- written, verbal, and presentation

  • Ability to work across sites (Phoenix and Austin) in the spirit of true collaboration to ensure the approach we take with our associates and clients is consistent

  • Bachelor’s degree or one-to-two years’ experience

  • Sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task in a rapid paced environment, deliver on tasks and projects on time and with no supervision

  • Ability to encourage and support those around you to challenge the status quo; effect small and large changes in order to continue to elevate the teams’ effectiveness and level of service provided to our clients

  • Strong emotional intelligence
