Risk Analytics

The Customer solutions group is a team of approximately 50 experts, providing functional and technical risk management expertise for the Risk Analytics vertical globally. This includes product presentations, proposals, customized demonstrations and proof of concepts across the Risk Analytics product range. The group interacts with Sales and Business Lines teams to analyse available solutions, plan enhancements, or new products in relation to client requirements. The team also interacts with Global Services & Support to ensure an effective handover on all customer implementations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Specialist on IBM’s ALM ( Asset Liability Management) and liquidity Risk offering, with a focus on best practices, relevant regulations, and customer business drivers.

  • Conduct Pre Sales presentations and workshops on ALM /Liquidity IBM solutions. Effectively communicate value proposition and business advantages to our client base.

  • Work closely with the sales team to meet and exceed company revenue targets. Assist sales in qualifying prospective clients and underlying solutions, content and product expertise, including fostering relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels

  • Working with Risk Analytics Solutions and helping identify new market tendencies and functional requirements. To help define the market selling propositions, key product messages, and competitor differentiators. Work closely with the offering management team to communicate market trends and product developments in the market place.

  • Support the product, functional and implementation specific aspects of the bid strategy as well as assisting with responses to RFIs. Preparation of proposals and presenting solutions to clients.

  • Responsible for ensuring proposed solutions are achievable, profitable and realistic given client requirements

  • Capturing customer requirements, advising and assisting Implementation teams in the provision of design and implementation requirements

  • Ensuring that relevant information from each presales engagement is fed back to the Business Line to be used in product management decisions

  • Accountable for the effective use of resources to aid the effectiveness of sales engagements and effective management of the pre-sales process while responsibly managing the cost of pre-sales and use of resource budgets.

  • Proactively support third party partners and third party sales channels while developing mutually beneficial business

  • Willingness and ability to travel is a strong requirement.

  • Understand IBM Risk Analytics, and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across IBM Risk Analytics, to serve client needs.

Essential Expertise

  • Strong background in risk management across both banking and trading book products and financial instruments, with a focus on ALM and Liquidity Risk

  • Exposure to Liquidity Risk and ALM: LCR, NSFR, NII, Liquidity Gaps, Earnings, EVE

  • Strong knowledge about North American ALM and Liquidity regulatory environment, CCAR, Dodd-Frank's Liquidity Framework

  • Experience developing or reviewing Balance Risk Management and measurements systems, economic capital, ICAAP, stress testing with commercial banks or financial institutions in the context of broader regulatory reforms such as Basel II

  • Strong commercial awareness, excellent client facing and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communications skills to interact effectively with risk managers, financial engineers, ALCO members, Finance, IT and Senior Management.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

An Advanced degree or training (Masters in Finance or Economics, MBA or CFA preferred)

Job Related Experience:

  • Strong experience in banking and/or capital markets risk management, or in a consulting role managing projects and programs related to ALM and Liquidity Risk in both the banking and/or trading books

  • Strong product knowledge of both banking and trading book financial products

  • Knowledge of vended tools such as QRM, FIS Sungard, Moodys Fermat, Adaptiv, Oracle Revelus, SAS Risk Management for Banking

  • Good knowledge of statistical software packages; previous experience in data mining

  • Understanding of relational databases and ability to effectively utilize statistical software – SAS, Stata, and R. is a plus.

  • Ability to be a subject matter resource/provide industry insights into one or more of the following:

  • Regulatory risk experience (Basel II, bank holding company readiness, experience with regulatory examinations/expectations)

  • Knowledge of board and senior management governance, experience with board and risk committee functions (charters, operations, minutes, reporting)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
