Work as part of the New Student Services-NSS Team to develop and deliver new student orientation, extended orientation and to develop new programs and transition initiatives.
Coordinate the planning and execution of various new student and extended orientation programs for both incoming freshmen and transfers. This would include but not limited to: New Student Orientation, Transition Week, Longhorn Welcome, and programming for the Transfer Experience Center. Assist in the coordination, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of approximately 75-100 orientation advisors. Examples include providing support and supervision for orientation advisor committees and assist in delivery of new student orientation training and presentations (as needed) during the year. Coordinate the development and delivery of new initiatives in the office such as on-line orientation for new students entering summer school, and a volunteer program to assist with new student and extended orientation programming during the year. Supervise a part-time graduate assistant who will work directly on coordinating transition initiatives such as the RISE Summit, the Longhorn Way Program, and other duties as assigned. Assist with special assignments within the New Student Services area, the Dean of Students Office, and the Division of Student Affairs as assigned or requested.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Three years of relevant work experience in student affairs and/or student personnel experience in higher education. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with overlapping projects. Demonstrated ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision. Goal-driven, self-directed and creative with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team with strong interpersonal skills and professionalism. Professional demeanor with regular and punctual attendance. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master's degree. Three or more years of experience planning, coordinating, and executing medium-to large scale events for freshman and transfer students in higher education. Experience in student affairs at a Research I institution of higher education. Highly developed understanding of social justice concepts and practices. Knowledge of student development theories, including social change theory. Experience in volunteer coordination. Experience in community-based work, whether at a university, corporation, or nonprofit. Bilingual. Familiarity with social media and web applications for outreach, productivity and other projects to enhance student engagement.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
