Youth Coach (part-time)
HealthFitness has a great opportunity for a part time (20 hour a week) Youth Coach at our client site in Beaumont, TX! In this position, you will be responsible for the implementation of programs providing a fun, safe, and positive learning experience for all youth members. You will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in your group. You will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Christus Health and Wellness core values of Faith, Health, Honesty/Integrity, Family, Service, and Teamwork.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Comply with state (Texas) and Christus Health and Wellness Center requirements.
Responsible for managing a group of 8 – 15 children, age ranging 5 - 12 years old.
Lead, instruct, and participate with children in all youth programming activities.
Develop lesson plans based on the age and cognitive ability.
Move members in an orderly fashion throughout the facility.
Energetic and highly motivated to have positive interactions with parents, children, and fellow staff members.
Identify and respond to youth member behavior issues.
Ensure that the facility is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the youth and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your members’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the youth program.
Attending all service training and meetings as scheduled.
Keeping all certifications current.
Finding proper substitution in absence (i.e. vacation, illness).
Following all written regulations and procedures.
Adhere to dress code.
Assist with special events and possible field trips.
Education, Experience & Certifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of basic child supervision required.
Prior experience working hands-on with children in a group setting required.
Ability to participate in physical activities required.
CPR & First Aid certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required or available to attend a class on-site.
1+ year of educational leadership (teaching, mentoring, etc.) preferred.
1+ year of youth programming (camps, workshops,etc.) preferred.
Serve as a positive role model for students according to Christus Health and Wellness Core Values.
Ability to create programs and activities based on academics and physical needs.
Knowledge of youth development.
Ability to work independently as a Youth Coach.
Strong attention to details pertaining to children.
Desire to educate youth mentally and physically.
Ability to multi-task as well as work quickly and accurately.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills when dealing with children, fellow staff, and parents.
