Stratasys Production Manager - DMLS Machining in Belton, Texas

Position Summary: The Production Manager – DMLS Machining is responsible for managing the production in the Austin and Belton machine shops, which assist the DMLS departments at those locations. This position is responsible for quoting, technical review, managing workflow, as well as managing the employees at both locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Quoting/Technical Review

  • Evaluate each opportunity for feasibility, machining needs, procurement/tooling requirements, risk assessment, estimated delivery, and other factors needed for a successful project

  • Initial evaluation of programming needs and complexity, file modifications to support post-machining

  • Make sure that we are adequately quoting proper pricing for proper machining work

  • Programming

  • Proficient in multi-axis programming, including 5-axis mill, lathes. Adequate in EDM programming. Develop programs for all types of jobs multi-site as needed. Mastercam fluency a must.

  • Scheduling

  • Knowledge of overall process flow, daily knowledge of work in queue and work issues. Responsible for communicating schedule and schedule changes to the respective CNC departments. Outstanding communication skills is a must. Requires excellent organization and planning skills

  • Procurement/Parts Kitting

  • Requires a high proficiency in reading technical blueprints, comparing in-house hardware/material/tooling. Maintain master tool inventory, master material and hardware inventory. Tracks orders and insures OTD, kits parts with tools, materials, and other procurement and prepares job for machinists to receive

  • RP Programming Support

  • Evaluate models to provide technical guidance such as adding material to a machined area, adding a fixture to be built with the part, part orientation, etc. Requires extensive technical knowledge of the entire process flow.

  • Training

  • Develop and implement training processes to provide job knowledge advancement, CPI, and career advancement to the team members of the organization.

  • Fixture Design

  • Evaluate projects and create/design efficient fixtures. Front end assessment of this requirement will greatly assist in proper scheduling time for fixture development and fabrication

  • Bus Systems Administration

  • Responsible for updating and creating all necessary business system documents, planning, scheduling, and communication documents, multisite

  • Responsible for CNC Shop Management connected to the Austin and Belton DMLS departments.

  • Has Accountability for OTD, Escapes, Costs

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Excellent math and computer skills using MasterCam software.

  • Full understanding of CNC machines and machining practices including proficiency in multi-axis programming and understanding of EDM programing.

  • Able to provide technical review and project quotes.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Must be capable of establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with others in a team environment

  • Preferred Qualifications: (would add value to the role)

  • Proficiency in EDM programming

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team

  • Ability to work well with others.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages machinists at two locations.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Works in a pleasant office environment with other department staff, utilizing a computer workstation and various software applications. Specific work schedule is coordinated with direct supervisor.

  • Travel requirement: 30% local travel
