JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for maintaining the McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark facilities and grounds. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS  Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.  Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.  Must possess a valid state issued driver s license and, on date of hire or within 90 days of hired date, must have obtained a Commercial Texas Driver s License Class B, for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.  Possession of or ability to become certified in various disciplines associated with position (use of agricultural chemicals/pesticides, etc.) MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITES Essential duties and functions may include the following: Maintains and repairs Airpark facilities, including repairing and replacing windows, painting, dry wall repair or replacement, changing light bulbs, plumbing, welding, and basic carpentry. Maintains Airpark grounds by cutting grass, trimming trees, and landscaping. Maintains airport runways including replacing taxiway and runway lights, clearing debris from taxiways and runways, replacing wind socks, and repairing hangar doors. Operates equipment such as mower, sprayers, dump truck, backhoe, and bush hog tractor. Maintains rail spur linking Airpark to main line railroad. May serve as lead worker in absence of manager. May be on call after hours to respond to emergency situation. Performs other related duties as assigned.  KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance methods and practices. Knowledge of department, city and safety rules and procedures. Knowledge of airport maintenance, lighting and electrical systems. Skill in basic mathematical calculations. Skill in painting, electrical, structural, and plumbing repairs. Skill in operating grounds maintenance equipment to include mower, dump truck, back hoe, and bush hog tractor and other. Skill in operating hand tools for facility and grounds maintenance. Skill in operating airport equipment. Skill in oral communication. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Airport Maintenance Manager assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The Manager spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
