The Software Application Developer II, under direction, performs complex and specialized software development support functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, de-bugging, and problem-solving. What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of software applications development experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with a diverse range of people

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Applications development experience using Java

  • Experience with ASP.NET C#. Experience with Amazon AWS Developer Tools such as CodePipeline and Cloud Development SDK

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and bilities:

  • Advanced cross-disciplined IT skills, advanced analysis and troubleshooting/problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, understands context/interrelationships, and proficiency of ITIL

  • Willingness to gain proficiency through learning new development technologies and full stack web development


  • Software Coding - Review and write complex programs, program modifications, or applications.

  • Software Support and Deployment - Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and/or make appropriate referrals. Evaluate and follow through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated.

  • Software Testing - Test complex programs, program modifications, or applications.

  • Common Duties - May coordinate the technical activities of a small project team; assist and mentor other employees in resolving various issues; participate with management personnel in planning, direction, and coordinating operational and/or procedural matters to meet goals and objectives; may produce reports and summaries for management and/or users including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports; participate in change management and problem tracking; and perform all or some of the duties of a Software Applications Developer I. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Client/Vendor Collaboration - Consult with clients to review project plans and schedules, secure approval of test results, and discuss problems or concerns.

  • Software Design - Design complex programs, program modifications, or applications. Develop specifications based on input from the customer and create complex design documents.

  • Documentation - Review and analyze software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolution.

  • Data Architecture Design Support - Assist with data architecture design.

  • Project Planning Support - Answer questions and provide technical assistance and/or training to application users. Resolve problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and/or make appropriate referrals.

  • Technology Planning and Evaluation - Participate in the evaluation of software products and programming languages to determine their applicability to a specific system and/or project.

  • Professional Development - Participate in training and professional development sessions.
