BRYAN ISD Transportation Mechanic I or II in BRYAN, Texas
Primary Purpose:To conduct preventive maintenance programs as well as maintain the mechanical conditions of all vehicles within the district.Qualifications:iMinimum Education/Certification:High School diploma or EquivalentPossess a current CDL driveris licensePosses a current school bus drivers certification Special Knowledge/Skills Basic Mechanical ability Ability to receive and carry out verbal instructions effectively.Minimum Experience:Have knowledge and experience in fleet repair and maintenance (gasoline and diesel)Automatic and standard transmissionsExtensive knowledge in electrical trouble shooting and repair electrical systemsExtensive knowledge in brake repairs (air and hydraulic)Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.Performance Responsibilities: 1. Maintain and repair buses at the direction of the Shop Manager.2. Attend all safety-related meetings as required by Bryan ISD.3. Transport students when needed at the direction of the Transportation Director(s).4. Maintain a positive working relationship with all transportation personnel.5. Report all parts and procedures used to the parts clerk.6. Clean the shop area after repairs is completed daily.7. Provide roadside assistance to fleet.8. Properly tow vehicles when needed.9. Report suspected vehicle abuse to appropriate supervisors.10. Perform other duties as assigned.11. Maintain reliable, punctual, and dependable attendance.12. Possess or earn ASE Certification.Working Conditions:Physical Demands:Heavy lifting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing, ability to drive a 72 passenger bus.Environment:Works outside in all ranges of temperatures and humidity.Works inside in regular vehicle maintenance shop conditions.
