Job Description

Time Assignment

  1. Approximately 75% assignment to patient care and teaching of senior veterinary students on clinical rotations in Primary Care.

  2. Approximately 25% of time allowed for classroom/laboratory teaching, scholarly endeavors, and service activities.

Patient Care and Teaching

  1. Supervise senior veterinary students during client and patient visits in the primary care setting for animals presenting for prevention and wellness, minor illness or injury, chronic disease, and requiring rechecks.

  2. Utilize clinical case material and various technologies for innovative teaching of wellness and preventative medicine to veterinary students in the professional curriculum.

  3. Participate in teaching in the professional curriculum, particularly in formal rounds to students on the Primary Care Service. Teaching responsibilities will be shared with other faculty members assigned to the service areas.

  • Update and develop well-organized creative rounds sessions for senior students.

  • Participate in didactic lectures and laboratories for veterinary students as assigned.

  1. Participate in continuing education presentations for practicing veterinarians attending conferences at TAMU or elsewhere.

  2. Provide consultations for Texas veterinary practitioners as requested.


  1. Collaborate with team members to generate practical research in the area of primary care.

  2. Publish the results of original work in refereed journals of the highest quality, and present research findings to peer groups at local, national and international meetings.

  3. Work with other faculty in the department and college to help support their research needs, as time allows.

Committee Assignments and Administrative Duties

  1. Participate in departmental, college, and university committees as assigned.

  2. Participate in administrative duties as assigned by Department Head.

Other Duties and Considerations

  1. Demonstrate evidence of satisfactory institutional citizenship and collegiality.

  2. Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Department Head.
