The position of the Welder includes, but is not limited to production welding, repair welding and the fitting of parts for welding. Essential Job Functions Verify the serial number of the item they are working on and ensure it is correctly written on the form. Verify drawings, weld procedures, and documentation they receive before starting any job. Read and understand welding process specifications. Use equipment such as grinders, cut-off saws, and band saws. Operate manual flame-cutting and plasma cutting equipment. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments and repair valves by welding in grooves and on seat faces by using processes such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and sub merged arc welding (SAW). Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects. Operates lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, jib cranes and forklifts. Maintains records of work completed in order to provide an accounting of activities on the shop floor. Maintains inventory of supplies routinely used in the operation of the welding shop by inspecting stock and ordering goods as needed. Inspects parts and supplies received in order to verify accuracy of invoices. Other duties as assigned. Candidate must pass background check.
