Job DescriptionDoug's Automotive and Truck Repair is centrally located near downtown Corpus Christi and has been in operation since 1989.Pay is competitive and based upon expereince.We are looking for an Auto Mechanic/Oil Change Specialist for our Family Owned Repair Shop to join the team! You will be responsible for repairing various types of gas and diesel engines. Every day is different and we learn something new every day at this shop!Responsibilities:Diagnose and Repair automobiles, trucks, buses, and other light-medium duty trucksPerform routine vehicle maintenance - Oil changes, brake jobs, fluid services etc.Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components. We have dealer level diagnostic equipment. Must be technologically inclined. We have labor guide to look up diagnostics, and also have laptop to program GM/Ford vehicles.Perform quality inspections prior to returning the vehicle to the customer.Must be able to keep work areas clean before and after repairs are completed.Qualifications:Previous experience as a mechanic is a plus++ - compensation based on experience.MUST have own tools. We have specialty tools, but expect you to have basic hand tools and an impact wrench.State and DOT Inspector is a plus but a valid drivers license is a must.Knowledge of shop equipment and general safety, know how to rack vehicles in a safe manner.Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to follow directions, be able to read diagnostic information and analyze data in order to make repairs.Deadline and detail-oriented. Able to follow detailed directions and complete them in a timely manner.Ability to show up on time, Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm.This is a drug and alcohol free workplace.Must pass a drug screen and physical, and must have valid drivers license.Cannot have any felony convictions within the past 5 years or class a/b misdemeanors in the past 3 years to become state inspector.
