Responsibilities

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Director, Digital Operations – Fundraising in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas .

The Director is responsible for ensuring high performance outcomes from the resources, processes and deliverables of the BT Digital Operations teams for Fundraising. Additional responsibilities include leading the Digital Operations team to provide AHA’s technology: a highly integrated ecosystem of multiple SaaS fundraising web-based and mobile applications, with associated email marketing, payment processing systems, data integration, digital analytics and meeting security/compliance standards.

Key leadership areas for this role involve staying current with fundraising and e-marketing technology and digital analytics and applying them as appropriate to AHA's fundraising technology. The Director needs strong personnel management skills to manage managers and strong collaboration capabilities with multiple AHA business teams.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Sets strategies for and leads digital fundraising technology needed by AHA business units to meet their ongoing marketing and fundraising needs. Partners with AHA fundraising Sr VPS, Directors and other staff to define needs and execute related technology.

  • Supervises Fundraising new technology delivery projects and related staff: Project Managers, Analysts and Quality control. Directs and leads execution of associated payment processes, analytics and data integration technology as needed by AHA.

  • Supervises Fundraising Application Manager and Fundraising Development Manager; serves as escalation from those teams. Works with Managers to attract and develop the Digital Operations for Fundraising staff. Manages activities with complete integrity and in accordance with AHA policies, systems, practices and programs.

  • Manages associated 3rd party vendor relationships for AHA's Saas Vendors, including development activities for needed functionality, ongoing support services, SLAs, contractual and cost reviews.

  • Participates in Business Technology planning process providing resource allocation information, high-level project estimates and technical guidance to all departments and levels within the organization. Participates in annual budgeting process. Oversees application budget throughout year.

  • Partners with VP, Affiliate Tech and Business App to translate AHA legal and policy directives, such as PCI, Accessibility and privacy policies, into technical approaches used by Fundraising Operations and Development teams across AHA’s fundraising portfolio.

  • Ensures executive leadership has appropriate visibility into the performance and business return from associated applications and compliance operations through analytics and reporting.

  • Ensures the reliability, stability and scalability of AHA's fundraising ecosystem technology components, including functionality and data processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience with Fundraising Technical System Management and management of tech operations teams.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience:

  • Front end development skills (HTML, Java Script, CSS.

  • Managing Payment technologies such as Braintree, Stripe, Paypal etc as well as Facebook and other social applications.

  • With non-profit fundraising technology specifically P2P and Donations (Blackbaud Luminate, Greater Giving, Event.Gives.

  • With and knowledge of Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) and JIRA toolset.

  • Experience with data integration management and API technologies.

  • Ability to translate organizational legal requirements and policy into tactical operational approaches.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary:

Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply.

Benefit Plans:

Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.

Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provides employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.

Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.

Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA.
