Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Procurement Director (

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

Objective Overview:

The Procurement Director is responsible for supporting the business through the development of sustainable strategic sourcing solutions; along with efficiency, standardization and optimization programs. The Procurement Director is primarily responsible for the strategic sourcing of multiple, complex spend categories with a scope of 200 MM. This position will effectively collaborate with the internal stakeholders (cross-functional and multi-level) to deliver best value and ROI solutions to the company and will be a primary business partner to our Operational teams

Fundamental Responsibilities:

  • Development and support of Procurement sourcing strategies with cross functional teams for key expenditure categories which may include, but not limited to, Automotive Parts; Sublet repairs; CAPEX; Marketing; Professional Services; and Travel

  • Initiate, direct and conduct all activities relating to negotiating, evaluating, selecting, and implementing national & regional supplier contracts

  • Collaborate and support operational strategy on procurement needs

§ Lead the sourcing process to select and manage suppliers which provide maximum ROI

  • Develop and/or refine the procurement related SOPs to minimize efforts & maximize benefits through compliance & specification controls

  • Negotiate, develop and cultivate long-term relationships with strategic suppliers

  • Design/develop improved Procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency

  • Interface with senior management to promote new initiatives and participate in cross functional collaborations

  • Define best procurement process for each sourcing project i.e. Traditional RFQ/RFP/RFI, on line Auction, collaborative sourcing

§ Implement risk assessment processes to ensure protection of Service King and business continuity plans in place for all goods and services

  • Manages supplier relationships, negotiates at a senior level and serves as the lead in mediation/problem resolution

Analytics and Communication

  • Expert at managing e-sourcing tools & spend management tools (e.g. Ariba)

  • Proficient with analytical tools (e.g. Excel) in order to draw conclusions

  • Proficient at oral / written communication in order to effectively explain complex ideas and approaches to a wide audience (MS Word, MS Project and MS PowerPoint required)

Relationships/Inter-Personal Skills

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to make bold decisions based on facts and provide full transparency to direct manager

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple functions and all levels of the organization

  • Results oriented in order to ensure goals are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied


  • Bachelors required, MBA or equivalent preferred

  • Extensive experience with sourcing and managing COGS and Indirect expenditure categories; at least 5 years of related experience required

  • Experience working with Six Sigma, Kaizen and/or Lean continuous improvement processes

  • Experience managing contracts, including legal terminology

  • Must work well across multiple stores, and management styles across enterprise and be both a team builder and a team player

  • Solid project management skills and experience
